What We Believe as Nazarenes

The Church of the Nazarene was founded nearly 100 years ago (1908) when a number of churches split off from the Methodist denomination. As a result, the Church of the Nazarene follows a strong Wesleyan theology. We have been called Methodists on steroids. We believe in  the full inspiration of the Scriptures and encourage the comparison and use of several translations as part of a discipline of Bible study!

The Church of the Nazarene is a very mission oriented church. Thus the Church supports nearly 800 missionaries world wide in 151 world areas. The Church is very active in Africa where we are partnering with Campus Crusade to show the Jesus film throughout the entire continent. That effort has been so successful that we are estimating we will need 6,000 new pastors just in Africa over the next few years. Therefore, the Church is also a very education oriented organization and operates colleges, universities, and theological seminaries throughout the Unites States and all over the world.
